As part of evidence-based practice, families and practitioners can turn to the best available research to answer questions and solve practice dilemmas. Ideally, high quality research directly related to a specific practice or target group will be available. However, this is not always the case. An evidence-based practice approach suggests using the best available research, looking for research that is closest to the practice, the audience, and the setting in the dilemma. In order to provide information on the best available research on a particular practice, CONNECT identifies and summarizes a research synthesis when possible.
