Camille Catlett
National Professional Development Center on Inclusion
Camille Catlett is an investigator at the University of North Carolina's Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute. She is currently a principal investigator on two national projects: Crosswalks: Outreach to Infuse Diversity in Preservice Education and the National Professional Development Center on Inclusion. Her recent research efforts have focused on models for preparing personnel to work with young children who are culturally, linguistically and ability-diverse.
Camille completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, San Diego and her graduate studies in speech-language pathology at San Diego State University and The George Washington University. She has provided direct service to young children (Prince George’s County, MD), coordinated a federal funding program (U.S. Administration on Developmental Disabilities) and led eleven national training and technical assistance projects related to professional development. Since arriving in North Carolina in 1992, Camille has led strategic planning efforts designed to promote systemic change in profes-sional development in over 30 states. She is a frequent presenter at state, national and international conferences on effective professional development, diversity, and family-centered practices. She coordinates the weekly Natural Resources listserv, co-authors a regular column on high quality/low cost resources in Young Exceptional Children, and co-edited the 2008 publication Practical Approaches to Early Childhood Professional Development.
